Nancy Lyons, VP, Chief Pharmacy Officer, Healthmart, McKesson, spoke to Pharmacy Times about pharmacy technicians and Health Mart University.

Lyons: Absolutely leveraging the platform that we already have in place and that pharmacies were accustomed to using. We leaned on our partner a little bit to add some more training services to help meet the immunization training demand entry level requirement for pharmacists. And then when they authorized pharmacy technicians to be able to do that as well. We were able to deliver the targeted education they needed in a virtual manner to allow them to start in the uniting and to keep their immunization credentials. And as we saw point of care testing get to be more of a mainstay, as well, putting together a really comprehensive program to take them from the CLIA waiver all the way to managing the result and helping the patient through that.
